2018-2019
Team Black, advised by First Sgt. Lyon, is one of the two distinguished Unit Troy drill teams. They are one of the leading teams of Area 11 in Southern California and Arizona which consists of more than 900 cadets. They compete in field meets that test their proficiency in drill, academics, and athletics. Team Black primarily consists of upperclassmen and experienced cadets who regularly practice to refine their skills. The team has a reputable legacy for qualifying for Navy Nationals which is one of the most important competitions of each year where the top 2% in the nation compete for the national title. Students may see them perform at various school rallies or events such as Open House or Troy Tech Night throughout the year.

After placing 1st at the Area 11 Drill Championships, Team Black was able to qualify for the opportunity to compete in the 2019 NJROTC Nationals Academic, Athletic & Drill Championship in April. Troy sent about 40+ cadets to this prestigious competition which is located across the country in Pensacola, Florida. Their hard work, dedication, and commitment led them to place 4th in the nation!
